Create Healthier Hair at Home with These 3 Tips

In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, self-care often takes a backseat. However, with a few simple adjustments to our routine, we can nurture and transform our hair to vibrant and healthy. In this blog post, Cassidy Womack of Cassidy Marie Hair will explore three essential tips to help you achieve and maintain healthier hair from the comfort of your own home.

Don’t wait 2+ weeks to cleanse & condition your hair

Cleansing more regularly allows our scalp & hair to experience hydration more often. If you have never tried cleansing every 7-10 days vs 2+ weeks, give it a try and see how your hair flourishes!

Remove build up when necessary!

We all love our creamy, moisturizing shampoos but removing build up with a stronger shampoo will be needed at times! These shampoos remove build up from products, excess dirt, or even hard water build up. Using them as needed allows us to have a healthier scalp and hair that takes in more hydration during wash day. When you need something stronger than your moisturizing shampoo here are some options based off your hair’s needs:

Deep Cleanse (Removes Excess Sweat & Dirt)

AG Balance Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo

Clarifying (Removes Product Build Up)

Malibu Un-Do-Goo

Chelating (Removes Hard Water Build Up)

Malibu Hard Water Wellness

Stylist Tip: Only use strong shampoos as needed and always follow up with your moisturizing shampoo before conditioning!

Know when treatments are needed

On a weekly basis, your normal rinse out conditioner gets the job done but on clarifying wash days a deep conditioner can be used to treat your strands. Conditioner adds emollients & humectants to your strands that seal in moisture after the hair has been hydrated. A few of my favorite moisture treatments:

>> For the curly natural –

Amika Hydro Rush Intense Moisture Hair Mask

Innersense Hydrating Hair Mask

>> For the straight natural –

Amika Soul Food Nourishing Hair Mask

Olaplex No. 8 Moisture Mask

>> If you have limp or mushy hair, instead of a deep conditioner, on your next wash day try a strengthening conditioner since it is higher in protein and can repair weakened strands.

A few of my favorites:

Trepadora Quinoa Repair

Uncle Funky’s Daughter Heal & Renew

Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair!

>> If you have chemically or heat treated hair, bond building treatments go inside the hair strand to repair damage at a deeper level. Through chemical and heat use, your hair’s disulfide bonds weaken. A bond building treatment helps repair your hair from the inside out.

Here are some treatment options:

Olaplex No. 3 Hair Perfector

K18 Leave In Molecular Hair Repair Mask

By adopting these simple yet effective tips, you can embark on a journey to healthier, more beautiful hair right from the comfort of your own home. Remember, consistency is key, so make these practices a regular part of your hair care routine, and watch as your locks transform into their healthiest, most radiant selves.
